How to write a blog post

Hey guys, sorry we had a crazy weekend so I didn’t even get a chance to look at the blog until last night – I’m so glad you guys like the idea!

Now, I think I’ve added you all to the roster by now – I have to add each of you individually, otherwise you can only comment, not write a real post.

The first thing you need to do when you get to the website is make sure you’re logged in. If you’re logged in then you will have a “dashboard” at the top of the screen with all of your options, such as: “My Account, My Dashboard, New Post” etc.

If you want to write a blog entry like me and mom have, then click on “New Post” and it will open up a window where you can write your entry. This is different than leaving a comment, which is what each of you has been doing.

When  you write a post it comes up as a real diary entry, but when you leave a comment it’s like you’re only responding to someone else’s blog entry, not your own.

If you aren’t logged in and can’t see the dashboard at the top of the screen, go to www.wordpress.com and log in there using your sign-in information, then you should be able to post after that.

Another important thing – when you write a blog post, be sure to put it in your category, otherwise we won’t be able to tell who it is writing. Also, if you could sign your name at the bottom of your post, that would help too. Otherwise, it’ll just look like some anonymous person is writing everything!

If you want to specifically discuss something written in a post (like this one) you can click on the little “# Comments” button at the top of my post and enter your thoughts there. Then we’ll all know that you’re writing with specific regards to that entry.

Any questions? Can you all log-in now?

~Lisa
