My Dog Ate My Homework!

I know it’s the cheesiest excuse a kid could ever come up with. At least that’s what I’ve always thought, but what I saw today will have an effect on my life forever! Okay, a couple days. It sure makes for a good story though. I wish I would’ve taken a picture. It was unbelievable. When I came home in the middle of my usual Tuesday-evening-running-kids-back-and-forth-to-various-lessons, I peeked over the tall board that separates Jamie from everything she loves, and was befuddled. “What on earth is scattered all over the floor? There isn’t anything left in this room for her to get into!” It didn’t take long for my natural detective instincts to kick in–I did raise five kids through the crawling and toddling stages, requiring the ability to decipher tiny object parts in the perpetual river of drool down the chin, making sure it wasn’t the remainder of anything harmful! Anyway, back to the mess. I could see shredded paper, and something red that kind of resembled paper but a little tougher grade. Aha! The red was Caleb’s homework folder, so the paper had to be the remainder of his cursive homework! Where could the dog have gotten this from? Another clue…Caleb’s backpack on the kitchen table… Chairs not pushed in all the way… Oh man, she was on the table again and received her reward! She must’ve had a lot of fun because there were so many tiny pieces… I really should have taken a picture but it was time to run to our next destination. Guess where Jamie spent the rest of the evening…in the land of nothing to chew on…her crate! nyah! nyah! nyah!

I guess I’d better send a note to school with Caleb or his teacher will never believe him.

  1. hahaha I can’t wait to hear about the teacher’s reaction! Poor Jamie, stuck in her crate all night.. I can see the sad expression on her little poop-brown face and her little mischievous eyes trying to win you over by trying to look pitiful..
You should take some pics of her and post them on here!!! My camera phone pics of her didn’t turn out very good.
